Circle Oil makes gas discovery in Morocco concession

16 February 2009
Initial testing at London-listed Circle Oil’s Sebou concession in Morocco has shown near-record production of almost 20 million cubic feet a day (cf/d).

In a 16 February statement the company said that the KSR-8 well at its concession in the Rharb basin has now been drilled, logged, and tested at two zones.

The first zone, at the Upper Main Hoot formation, showed an average flow rate of 6.8 million cf/d, whilst the Main Hoot zone flowed at 12.5 million cf/d.

David Hough, chief executive officer of Circle Oil, says that the well flowed “at one of the highest rates ever seen in the Rharb”.

The well will be completed and attached to the local gas infrastructure, according to Circle Oil, and an extended well test and assessment of reserves will follow.
