Egyptian developer CityStars plans to break ground on its new 7 square kilometre-development in Sharm el-Sheikh by mid-May this year.

The project includes hospitality, leisure, residential, recreational and sporting components. It will also include primary and secondary schools, hospitals, social services, roads and associated infrastructure. The developer aims to complete the multibillion-dollar project by 2025.    

US-based Hill International is the project manager. Dubai-based Godwin Austen Johnson (Gaj) prepared the masterplan.

CityStars has also commissioned Gaj to complete feasibility studies and the eventual masterplan of an even larger project located 100km north of the Sharm el-Sheikh project.

The 20-million-square-metre CityStars 2 project will also be built on a site along the Red Sea coast. It will be developed in phases over the next 15 years.

Sources close to the CityStars schemes have suggested Gaj is a favourite to be awarded or commissioned on several smaller design packages on the project.
