Clashes break out in the Occupied Territories

10 November 2003
Israeli officials on 8 November announced that they had shot and killed four Palestinians in the Occupied Territories and had arrested a local head of Islamic Jihad, Amjad Abeidi, in the West Bank town of Jenin. During and after Abeidi's arrest, scores of Palestinians rioted in the streets of the town. One rioter was killed when he attempted to attack an Israeli army vehicle.

In Burkin, near Jenin, Israeli soldiers fired into the air in an attempt to disperse a crowd of demonstrators. One youth, said to be a member of Hamas, was hit by shrapnel and died. In the northern Gaza Strip Israeli troops patrolling the border saw two Palestinians attempting to crawl under the boundary in the Abu Safeya area of Beit Hanoun, and opened fire killing both men.
