Client seeks firms for transport operations package

Ashghal envisages system to manage, monitor and maintain road networks and assets

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited firms to bid by 9 October for the operations and maintenance framework contract for the state’s intelligent transport system (ITS).

The contract will have a maximum duration of five years with an optional two one-year extensions.

It will cover preventative and corrective maintenance as well as operations and new installations of the ITS network’s components.

Ashghal tendered the contract to design, develop, procure, install, commission, operate and maintain an intelligent transport system in early 2017.

The system sought was envisaged to enable control room operators to manage, monitor and maintain the road networks and assets within the responsibility of Ashghal “24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”

The software-driven system was to be installed at the roads assets management centre (RAMC), which is located on the ground floor of the headquarters building of the Asset Affairs division of Ashghal.
