The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited firms to bid by 10 March for the contract to build an access road to the Ras Abu Aboud Stadium, which will host group and quarter-final games during the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
Also known as the Fourth Precinct, Ras Abu Aboud Stadium will be developed near Hamad International airport in the Ras Abu Aboud area.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy awarded the main stadium construction contract to local firm HBK Contracting Company in early 2018.
The stadium will be built using modular containers, making it the first “detachable, mobile and recyclable Fifa World Cup stadium". MEED understands foundation works have begun at the site with excavation work nearly completed as of November.
The consultant is US-based Populous while the project manager is US-based Turner International.
Ras Abu Aboud Stadium will have a 40,000 seating capacity and 6,000 car parking spaces.
