An award is imminent for the contract to build the new College of Business Studies for Girls at the Ardiya campus of the Public Authority for Applied Education & Training (PAAET – MEED 28:10:05).

Kuwait Arab Contractors is frontrunner for the work after submitting a low bid of KD 27.8 million ($96 million) in late January. The local United Gulf Construction Company (UGCC) is ranked second on price at KD 29.5 million ($102 million).

The 33-month project covers the construction of a segregated main faculty building, as well as libraries, car parks, administrative buildings, lecture halls and related facilities. The UK’s John Bonnington & Partnership carried out the masterplan for the proposed development. The local Gulf Consult is the design consultant on the project.

The local Real Estate Construction & Fabrication Company (Recafco) was recently awarded the KD 28 million ($97 million) contract to build PAAET’s Special Training College (MEED 24:2:06). Ten local contractors have until 10 May to bid for a similar-sized contract to build the basic education college for girls (MEED 7:4:06).
