Combined Group Contracting Company leads nine other Kuwaiti companies on $102m deal
The local Combined Group Contracting Company (CGC) is is the favourite to win a KD29.49m ($102m) contract to expand laboratories at Kuwait University’s Shuwaikh campus university after submitting the lowest price in a 7 February bid round.
The contract, which is being tendered by the Public Authority for Applied Education & Training (PATE), covers the construction, completion, operation and maintenance of laboratories, workshops and associated infrastructure for students and faculty of the university’s technology course. The project comprises three buildings: one for women, one for men and a central building that will contain additional laboratories and a library.
The local Kuwaiti Manager Company was the second lowest bidder with an offer of KD29.97m. Kuwait’s Mohammed al-Kharafi & Sons was third lowest bidder with an offer of KD30.2m.
Only Kuwaiti contractors were allowed to bid on the contract. The complete list of bidders includes:

The expansion project is one of two contracts being tendered at PAAET’s Shuwaikh campus.
The other deal covers the construction and maintenance of a sports stadium and associated infrastructure. It is estimated to be worth KD16m. The bid deadline for the project is 13 June.
