Commercial bids due for Abu Dhabi pipeline project

Five companies are preparing to submit commercial bids by 29 January for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract on the estimated $400 million inter-refineries pipeline (IRP) project in Abu Dhabi emirate. The scheduled submission comes three months after technical bids went in to the client, Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer - MEED 23:7:04).

The bidders are Willbros Groupand Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I), both of the US, Dubai-based Dodsal, the local National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC)and the German office of Paris-based Technip.

The project is divided into two main parts. The first, the pipeline element, includes the supply and installation of: a 203-kilometre-long multi-products pipeline from Ruwais to Mussafah; a 230-kilometre-long gas-oil pipeline and a 230-kilometre naphtha and jet fuel pipeline from Umm al-Nar to Ruwais; and other related facilities.

The second, the terminal works, centres on the construction of pump houses at Ruwais and Umm al-Nar and the construction of at least 10 storage tanks, slop tanks and new road tanker loading facilities.

Tebodin Middle East, part of Tebodinof the Netherlands, is providing project management consultancy (PMC) services. Engineers India (EIL)is carrying out front-end engineering and design (FEED) services.
