Companies line up for Oman consultancy contract

A total of 17 companies have so far acquired the tender documents for advisory services on two planned independent water and power projects (IWPP) in Oman.

The tender calls for bids from consortiums made up of a technical, financial and legal adviser. The successful group will act as the consultant on the Duqm coal-fired and the brownfield Ghubrah West IWPP (MEED 8:8:08).

The deadline for bids is 22 September. The Oman Power & Water Procurement Company is the client.

The potential bidders include BankMuscat, Ernst & Young and KPMG.

A number of law firms are also considering bidding. They include Denton Wilde Sapte, Berwin Leighton Paisner and Chadbourne & Parke.

Other potential bidders include the UK’s Mott MacDonald, Germany’s Fichtner, Australia’s WorleyParsons, Iran’s Hirbodan EPC Company, India’s National Thermal Power Corporation, Spain’s Socoin Ingenieriea y construccion industrial, the local Century Architects, Finland’s Poyry, Kema International of the Netherlands, Universal Consulting Engineers, and Beirut-based Dar al-Handasah (Shair & Partners).
