Countries in the Middle East have been urged by internet security experts to force companies to disclose to the public when they lose consumer data. "In the US or the UK for example, if you lose consumer data you must disclose that and that gets written up in the press and you get a bad press and you get fined. In other countries there isn't this need to disclose data loss, therefore there isn't as much news about it and therefore people aren't taking it as seriously," Nigel Hawthorn, VP, EMEA marketing, Blue Coat, said.
