Consolidated Contractors International starts work on Sohar interchange

Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC) has started work on a OR49m ($127m) interchange project in Sohar.

The interchange will link the industrial port area to the Muscat highway and Sohar Aluminium smelter in Sohar industrial estate, 11 kilometres from the port. It will replace an existing roundabout on the highway.

The other bidders were three local firms, Al-Adrak Transport & Contracting Company, Desert Line Projects and Al-Shanfari Trading & Company, as well as two Indian companies, Larsen & Toubro and Nagarjuna Construction Company.

The consultant is US-based Parsons International.

The Transport & Communication Ministry is the client (MEED 12:10:07).
