A consortium of Lebanese-French firms has signed a memorandum of understanding with Iraq's Wassit provincial council to build 5,000 housing units in the province, Aswat al-Iraq has reported. Wassit, like the majority of Iraqi provinces, suffers an immense housing crisis, prompting some to build houses over an area not more than 50 sq m, the news service said.
