Deerns Group and its local partner Al-Nabhan Engineering Consultancy sign $34.7m contract

Netherlands-based Deerns Group and its local partner Al-Nabhan Engineering Consultancy have been awarded a €30m ($34.7m) contract for consultancy services at Kuwait International airport.

The five-year contract from the Kuwaiti Directorate General of Civil Aviation covers management and supervision services at the airport. It was tendered in 2017.

This project is one of the largest managed by Deerns in its 90-year history and will be carried out by the firm's local office in Kuwait, with specialist support from Deerns’ offices in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe.

The work will be supported by local expertise and logistical support from Al-Nabhan.

A collaboration with Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) will develop specialised communication, navigation, surveillance and meteorological systems for air traffic management.

Deerns group has worked in Kuwait before, providing the design of technical facilities for the airport’s new terminal 2.
