Roads & Transport Authority awards $67m deal
- Chinese firm wins roads contract near Dubai Parks & Resorts site
- Dubai Parks & Resorts expected to open in 2016
China State Construction Engineering Corporation has been awarded a $67m contract for the construction of access roads leading to the Dubai Parks & Resorts site, close to Palm Jebel Ali between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The 14-month deal will see the firm build bridges and supporting roads from Sheikh Zayed Road to provide access to the Dubai Parks & Resorts development.
It is understood that although the road works will be under the management of the emirates Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Parks & Resorts will be funding all related road networks built for the site.
The $2.9bn Dubai Parks & Resorts project, which is expected to open in October 2016, is a major development that will include several hotels as well as the regions first major theme park.
South Koreas Samsung C&T was awarded the contract to manage the delivery of the scheme from the initial concept stage and provide support to the client in all development stages including initial planning, feasibility studies and design development, as well as construction management.
