Two more contracts have been awarded on the $1,000 million Muscat wastewater project, for the Al-Ansab sewage treatment plant (STP) and the operation and maintenance (O&M) financial advisory. The local Galfar Engineering & Contractinghas been awarded the RO 31.6 million ($81 million) contract to construct the STP, having emerged as low bidder for the job when four financial offers were opened in November. The contract calls for the installation of a 53,000-cubic-metre-a-day STP and a control system for the entire project. BNP Paribaswith Oman Arab Bankhas been appointed to advise the client, Oman Wastewater Services Company (OWSC), on the establishment of an O&M joint venture with an international company to service the entire project. OWSC is in the process of drawing up a shortlist of companies to bid for the project management services contract on the scheme (MEED 26:11:04).
