Contractor moves onto One Business Bay site

24 April 2006
The local/UK Dutco Balfour Beatty has started work on the enabling works package for the One Business Bay tower project. The scope of works involves site preparation, earthworks and the installation of retaining walls. The 31-storey tower will be built on plot 1 in Business Bay to the south of the main entrance into the development from Sheikh Zayed road (MEED 9:12:05).

Germany's Kling Consult is the design consultant, Currie & Brown of the UK is the quantity surveyor and the local Hamilton is the project manager. The local Omniyat Properties, the real estate subsidiary of Almasa Holdings, is the client. Bahrain-based International Investment Bank (IIB) is taking a 50 per cent equity stake in the project. IIB has also taken a 65 per cent stake in the estimated $85 million West Bay Tower project in Business Bay. The project will be developed with the locally-registered SNASCO. Canada's Cansult is the consultant.
