Contractor selected for Ras al-Khaimah island contract

The local Construction Technology Contracting (CTC) has been awarded the AED1bn ($272m) contract to build the Pacific development on Al-Marjan island is the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah.

The project covers an area of 25,300 square-metres and consists of six residential buildings, each named after a Pacific island. Completion is scheduled for 2011.

UK-based JRHP is the consultant. The client is a joint venture of Dubai-based developers Select Group and UK-based Select Property.

Belgium's Dredging International was awarded the first phase dredging package for Al-Marjan island in early 2007.

The 3.8-square-kilometre development will be built on a 2-kilometre strip of reclaimed land. The project will have a central lagoon and will involve the construction of 10 hotels, a marina and luxury villas with a total built-up area of about 2 million square metres (MEED 26:1:07).
