Gate Village building is part of DIFC expansion

Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has awarded the local Khansaheb Civil Engineering an estimated AED140m ($38m) contract to build the Gate Village 11 building.

Located in the DIFC area, the contract involves building a new office building at Gate Village.

The project is just one of the new construction schemes DIFC is planning as it expands its financial centre.

It has invited companies to bid by 10 July for the deal to build its AED475m Gate Avenue retail district.

The 61,000-square-metre retail centre will connect existing buildings at DIFC, as well as future developments. There will be 150 retail outlets in the centre, which was previously known as the Retail Spine.

DIFC says the main construction work will start in the third quarter of this year and the centre will open in the fourth quarter of 2017.
