Local and international contractors are awaiting the release of tender documents by Saudi Aramco for the construction and expansion of about 15 bulk plants across the kingdom. The projects will be offered in six packages, with the first contract expected to be tendered in September. No details have been released on the specification of the projects, but industry sources say the total amount of work is estimated to be worth up to $200 million.
The projects will involve the installation, testing and commissioning of tanks, pumps and loading and unloading skids as well as all associated civil, electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, structural and piping works. Among the companies expected to bid for the packages are Arabian Bemco Contractingand Metal Services for Trading & Contracting (MSTC), both local, Lebanon's Contracting & Trading (CAT), Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC), Cyprus-based Joannou & Paraskevaides (J&P)and Italy's Saipem(MEED 9:4:04).
