Residential property will be built on Al-Maryah Island
Abu Dhabi-based Gulf Related has invited selected companies to submit bids by the end of August for the contract to build a residential tower at its Maryah Central development in Abu Dhabi.
Known as the Maryah Central North Residential tower, the structure is one of two towers that will sit above its Maryah Central retail centre on the emirates Al-Maryah Island.
One will be a 350-room lifestyle hotel with 150 luxury residences, and the other will have 300 luxury residential units. The residences will be for rental rather than off-plan sale.
Gulf Related told MEED in April that it is preparing for construction work to start on the towers in 2017. The construction of the towers will follow a year behind the mall and will open in March 2019.
The estimated AED1.5bn ($409m) contract to build the mall was awarded to Canadas Brookfield Multiplex in August last year. The 170,000-square-metre retail centre is being built next to Gulf Relateds 35,000-sq-m Maryah Galleria, which opened in late 2013.
Gulf Related is a joint venture of Abu Dhabis Gulf Capital and US-based Related Urban. The project manager is the UKs Faithful + Gould.
