Contractors invited to bid for Business Bay buildings

27 October 2008
Contractors have been invited to bid for two building contracts at the Business Bay development in Dubai.

Selected contractors have been invited to bid by 9 November for a contract to build a mid-rise residential development.

Known as the Flamingo Residence, the project involves the construction of six to seven mid-rise residential buildings, with a total built-up area of about 225,000 square metres.

Lebanon’s Khatib & Alami is the consultant. Local developer Dubai Properties is the client.

Contractors have also been invited to bid by 30 November for a five-star hotel building.

The project involves the construction of a 24-floor hotel tower with a total built-up area of about 50,000 square metres.

The consultant is UK-based Godwin Austen Johnson. The client is the local Sharaf Group.

Dubai Properties is the master developer of Business Bay. In mid-October, contractors submitted first stage bids from three groups for the contract to build its Signature Towers project.

The bidders are the local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises in a joint venture with South Africa's Murray & Roberts Contractors (Middle East), the local Arabtec Construction, and the local/Belgian Bel Hasa Six Construct.

The project, formerly known as the Dancing Towers, involves the construction of three mixed-use towers with a shared podium. The development will also include a new stock exchange building for the Dubai Financial Market (MEED 13:10:08).
