Packages cover work at Dubai International and Al-Maktoum International airports

Dubai Aviation City Corporation has invited companies to bid for two construction contracts, one at Dubai International airport, the other at Dubai Logistics City next to Al-Maktoum International airport in the Jebel Ali area.

At Dubai International airport, contractors have been invited to submit bids by 16 May for an estimated AED275m ($75m) contract to build a horse quarantine centre. The fixed-price lump sum contract involves the construction of three buildings totalling 768 square metres, with the largest covers an area of 548 square metres, an electric substation, a horse washing area, security kiosk, and workshop together with ground service equipment maintenance, a unit load devices maintenance building, and external works.

The consultant is Lebanon’s Dar al-Handasah. The cost consultant is the UK’s Sweett Group.

At Dubai Logistics City, firms are preparing to submit bids on 15 May for a contract to build the first phase of a staff accommodation complex. It involves construction of 30 buildings of up to four storeys. Four buildings will be for senior staff, 10 for junior staff, and 14 blocks for labourers. The other two buildings will be a mosque and a clinic.

The engineer is the local Pioneers of Experts and the quantity surveyor is the local Trafalgar Technical Services.

Companies have won a number of major contracts at Dubai’s airports. The largest was won by the local Alec in February when it secured the estimated $850m contract to build concourse 4 at Dubai International airport.
