Contractors prepare offers for Kuwait oil deals

09 December 2007

Local grade 1 contractors are preparing bids for two contracts covering the modernisation of the state’s upstream infrastructure.

The first contract involves the improvement of safety systems at several gathering centres (GCs) across the state.

The 18-month lump-sum engineering, procurement and construction contract covers the modification and upgrade of emergency shutdown valves at GCs 17, 27 and 27 and the installation of isolation capabilities at GCs 27 and 28 in west Kuwait.

The project is aimed at improving monitoring and safety systems at the GCs to ensure that crude flow is stopped or slowed in the event of a leak or incident that requires urgent system shutdown.

The second scheme covers the installation of a gravity drain system at GCs 17, 27 and 28 and gas booster station 170. It involves the installation of two drain vessels, pumps and piping plus associated instrumentation and electrical work.

The client on both contracts is state upstream operator Kuwait Oil Company.
