Contract involves the upgrade of Mesaimeer Road in Doha

Contractors are preparing to submit bids on 24 October for the contract to upgrade Mesaimeer Road in Doha.

Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) retendered the contract in September. The firms that have been invited to bid are understood to include:

  • Consolidated Contractors Company (Lebanon)/Teyseer Contracting (local)
  • Daewoo Engineering & Construction (South Korea)
  • Hyundai Engineering & Construction (South Korea)
  • Larsen & Toubro (India)
  • QDVC (France/local)
  • Six Construct (Belgium)
  • Tekfen (Turkey)

When bids were previously submitted in April Lebanon’s Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and the local Teyseer Contracting was the lowest bidder with an offer of about $450m. The second lowest bidder was Belgium’s Six Construct with an offer of about $480m.

The 42-month contract involves the upgrade of 4.2 kilometres of Mesaimeer Road from three lanes to four lanes, the construction of intersections connecting Bu Hamour Street, Haloul Street and Salwa Road, four pedestrian bridges, and a central viaduct.

The project management consultant for the scheme is the US’ KBR.
