Health authority plans multi-billion dirham expansions

Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) has invited companies to prequalify for contracts to build multi-billion dirham expansions to government hospitals in Mafraq and Al-Ain.

The expansion to Mafraq Hospital will have 690 beds. The hospital will be built over an area of 245,000 square metres and will have underground parking for 1,300 vehicles. US-based Burt Hill is the design consultant.

The new Al Ain Hospital will have 688 beds. It will be built over an area of 358,000 square metres and will have underground parking for 1,500 cars. The design has been prepared by a joint venture of Switzerland’s ICME Healthcare, Germany’s Faust Consult Architects & Engineers, and Germany’s Obermeyer Engineering Consulting.

US-based Allen & Shariff Corporation is the project manager for both schemes.

Abu Dhabi is planning two other hospitals. It has received bids from contractors to build Cleveland Clinic on Sowwah Island, and it has issued tender documents for Tawam Hospital in Al-Ain (MEED 24:9:09).
