Project to be executed over a three-year period from contract award date

Contractors in Qatar have been given until 12 December to submit bids for the Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) contract to build roads and infrastructure for the Al-Sailiya and Al-Atiya housing project and the Al-Atiya Housing Army Camp road.

The developments are located in Zones 53 and 55 of Al-Rayyan Municipality.

The road for which bids are being sought runs along Al-Hamm Street, Al-Sailiya Street and the Al-Atiya Housing Road and Army Camp Road.

MEED understands the project area is partially developed with existing roads and junctions.

According to Ashghal, Al-Sailiya Street is currently a dual carriageway highway with wide central reserve and wide verges of barren land. Al-Hamm Street is partially completed and consists mainly of tracks in undeveloped barren desert.

Northern Al-Hamm Street consists of a temporary roadway with a few junctions to access some of the surrounding areas, while Al-Atiya Housing Road is an unkerbed single carriageway road. Al-Atiya Link Road is currently a dual carriageway road with median barriers and street lighting.

The contract is expected to be executed over a three-year period from contract award date, inclusive of mobilisation period.

An estimated $24.8bn-worth of road projects are under way in Qatar, while close to $1.8bn are at the procurement stage, according to data from regional projects tracker MEED Projects.

A further $13.3bn-worth of road schemes are in the prequalification stage.
