Resort to be built on highway between Dubai and Abu Dhabi

UAE real estate developer International Capital Trading (ICT) has received bids from companies to build an extension to the Al-Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The bidders include four local companies, Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, Al-Shafar General Contracting, Arabtec Construction, and National Projects Construction (NPC).

The project covers the construction of a four-floor extension with 144 rooms, two restaurants and underground parking.

The hotel is next to Aldar Properties’ $14.7bn Al-Raha Beach development on the highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai (MEED 2:9:09).

The local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises finished building the hotel in 2004.

ICT has been one of the busiest developers in Abu Dhabi in 2009. It is currently tendering the contract to build its Marasy development in Abu Dhabi. It will build the project on two plots of land at Al-Bateen Marina in the southwest of Abu Dhabi Island, close to the Intercontinental Hotel overlooking Hudayriat Island.

In May, it awarded a $436m contract to the local joint venture of NPC and Arabtec Construction to build its Nation Towers project on Abu Dhabi Corniche.

The award of the Nation Towers contract followed the local Pivot Engineering & General Contracting Company signing a $71m deal to build 170 villas at Mohammed bin Zayed City.

followed the signing of a $71m contract in April to build 170 villas at Mohammed bin Zayed City with the local Pivot Engineering & General Contracting Company.

ICT’s largest project is Ghantoot Green City, close to the Dubai border. It will cover 60 square kilometres and in the planning stage.
