Project involves building a cinema at the Bur Juman shopping centre
Contractors have submitted bid for a contract to overhaul part of the Bur Juman shopping centre in Dubai.
The bidders include the local Khansaheb Civil Engineering, the UK’s Laing O’Rourke, and South Africa’s Murray & Roberts Contractors (Middle East).
The project involves work on the old part of the mall, including the refurbishment of the external facade, the construction of a ground floor hypermarket, an enlarged food court, and a new cinema.
The consultant is UK-based Hyder. The client is Bur Juman Centre, which is part of the Dubai-based Saif al-Ghurair Group.
The mall is located in the Bur Dubai area and recently had a major expansion that involved the construction of a retail podium, an office tower and two apartment blocks. The local/South African Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises and Murray & Roberts Contractors (Middle East) was awarded the contract for those works in 2002 (MEED 19:4:02).
