New terminal will be built near Muscat at Seeb
The Transport & Communications Ministry has received three bids from local contractors for a contract to build a ferry terminal at Seeb fishing harbour close to Muscat.
The low bidder is Galfar Engineering with a price of RO3.8m ($9.8m). The other bidders are Sarooj Construction at RO4.6m and Desert Line Projects at RO4.9m.
The ministry is also tendering a contract to build a ferry terminal at Salalah Port in the south of the sultanate.
In June, the ministry awarded two contracts totalling RO20m ($52m) to build ferry terminals in Khasab in the Musandam governorate and Shinas on the northern Batinah coast (MEED 15:9:09). Sarooj Construction Company secured both contracts.
The National Ferry Boats Company will operate the services.
