The retender comes almost two years year after the headquarters project was originally launched in 2008. The original tender was cancelled after the client decided to change the design of the development.

“The project has been redesigned and the tender is expected to be issued in October,” says a source involved with the project.

In 2008, ADIB invited selected contractors to prequalify for the shell and core construction package on its new headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The original building was planned to be located on the old Airport Road next to Zayed Sport City. The project involved the construction of two 12-storey towers connected by an atrium and a four-level basement.

The shell and core packaging was scheduled to include civil, building and mechanical and electrical and plumbing works (MEED 28:9:08).
