Contractors win $745m of infrastructure construction deals

Contracts cover work in housing areas for local nationals

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has awarded five contracts totalling more than $745m for constructing infrastructure in housing areas for local nationals.

A joint venture of Kuwait’s Al-Ghanim International General Trading & Contracting Company and the local National Industrial Contracting Company has been awarded an estimated QR671m ($184m) contract for work in Al-Kharaitiyat and Ezghawa that includes 40 kilometres of roads, some 69 kilometres of pavements and cycle lanes, 4,200 parking spaces, as well as sewage and storm water drainage networks.

The local Qatar Trading & Contracting Group has been awarded an estimated QR645m contract for work in Al-Ebb and Leabib that covers 26 kilometres of roads, 49 kilometres of pavements and cycle lanes, 3,400 parking spaces, as well as sewage and storm water drainage networks.

A joint venture of the local Urbacon Trading & Contracting Company and the local InfraRoad Trading & Contracting has been awarded a contract for Muaither West and Al Manaseer; that covers 30 kilometres of roads, 120 kilometres of pavements and cycle lanes, 11,000 parking spaces, as well as sewage and storm water drainage networks.

The local Boom Construction won a QR489m contract for another package in Muaither West – Al Manaseer, which includes 22 kilometres of roads and 90 kilometres of pedestrian and cycle lanes. It also involves sewage, stormwater and TSE networks.

The final package was a QR356m contract awarded to the local Bin Omran Trading and Contracting. This is for work in Al Mearaad and South West of Muaither and it covers 18 kilometres of roads, 35 kilometres of pavements and cycle lanes, 3,100 parking spaces and sewage, stormwater, and TSE networks.
