Contracts awarded for Dubai’s Parallel roads

Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded two construction contracts on the parallel roads scheme.

The local Al-Naboodah Contracting has been awarded a AED950m ($259m) contract for phase 3b, which involves the construction of roads in the Al-Barsha area and Emaar Properties’ Springs, Meadows, Emirates Hills and Green developments.

Emirates Road Contracting (ERC), also local, Turkey’s Gunal, Italy’s Salini Costruttori, and Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) were the other bidders.

Italy’s Todini has been awarded the AED449m ($122m) contract for phase 3a, which involves building roads from Al-Barsha around the back of Emaar Properties' Springs, Meadows and Emirates Hills developments, and past Nakheel's Ibn Battuta mall, the Gardens residential development and the Al-Furjan project, before reaching an intersection with the Jebel Ali industrial area.

The local Emirates Road Contracting and Japan's Taisei Corporation were the other bidders (MEED 18:1:08).
