CPA announces fourth military base upgrade

The Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) issued on 18 November a presolicitation notice for a $10 million-25 million project to upgrade Umm Qasr military base south of Basra.

The design and build contract involves the upgrade of existing buildings and construction of new infrastructure, including roads, an electrical power plant, water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant. It also includes the upgrade of port area buildings and repairs to the docking area. The request for proposals (RFP) is expected to be issued on 2 December, with bids to be returned by 2 January. The project is scheduled for completion by 1 May.

The CPA on 18 November also announced revised prices for two other military base tenders. The estimated maximum prices for the projects to build military bases at Al-Numaniyah, west of Kut, and Al-Kasik, near Mosul, have been reduced from $500 million to $100 million (MEED 14:11:03).
