The scope of works entails building two interchanges on the existing Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman highway in the Seef district. The first bridge will cross from east to west immediately north of the Central Market roundabout and will carry traffic from the Sheikh Khalifa and King Faisal highways. The second bridge will take traffic over the existing roundabout, which is to be converted into a single-point traffic junction (Bahrain, MEED Special Report, 15:9:02, pages 37-38).
The US' Parsons Global Serviceshas drawn up the detailed designs for the project and will also provide construction management services. Mobilisation works are expected to start in February. The Works & Housing Ministry is the client.
