The UAE’s Dana Gas is to move ahead with exploration and development at its Sharjah offshore concession.
In a statement on 27 January the company says that preparations are already well advanced and work at the 1,000-square-kilometre concession, off the coast of Sharjah, will begin soon.
The concession includes the Zora gas field.
Pending seismic testing, the company is to drill 3,000 feet of horizontal section in two wells, with plans to complete the wells and install two processing and production platforms and add 25 kilometres of pipeline.
The cost of the exploration studies and work for each well is estimated at $65m. Dana is in the process of ordering equipment for the pipeline and production facilities, and is in talks with three rig contractors for a jack-up rig for the testing and completion of the two wells.
A further budget has been set out for the development of the Zora field at $70m.
