Danes to conduct study for Doha Bay crossing

31 March 2008
Denmark’s Cowi has been appointed to conduct a feasibility study for the new crossing planned for Doha Bay.

The eight-month study will explore 10 to 15 options that will take traffic from the airport and port area, past Doha corniche to new development areas such as West Bay and Lusail.

The options include a bridge across Doha Bay, a tunnel under the bay, or another tunnel running under the corniche. Other aspects to be decided include the number of lanes provided in each direction for road traffic and what provision to make for future public transport systems such as a metro system.

The Urban Planning & Development Authority is the client.
