Darwish starts work on towers and roads

The local Darwish Engineering ended 2005 with three major contract awards in three emirates. The projects include two high-rise residential projects and one road scheme.

In Dubai, Darwish has started work on the estimated AED 155 million ($42 million) Dubai Tower project on Sheikh Zayed highway, next to Business Bay and between Defence roundabout and the second interchange. The 43-storey residential tower will have a built-up area of 46,620 square metres. Turkey's Zetas has completed the foundations works as a separate package. France's Gambert Engineering Consultancy is the consultant. The client is a private developer.

In Sharjah, Darwishhas been awarded the estimated AED 165 million ($45 million) main package on a residential tower in the Al-Khan area. The contract calls for the construction of a 36-storey residential tower, another seven-storey building and a health club. The built-up area is about 63,000 square metres. The contract period is 930 days. The local Al-Emar is the consultant. The client is a private developer.

Darwish has also been awarded a contract worth AED 100 million ($27 million) by the Public Works & Housing Ministry for the construction of roads in 32 locations in the northern emirates of Sharjah and Ras al-Khaimah. The contract period is 700 days. Syria's Conser Engineering Consulting is the consultant.
