The contract, which includes an option for a six-month extension for increased quantities, involves the supply of equipment including vehicles, weapons, communications equipment and individual soldier equipment. The successful bidder will also be required to provide training, logistics support and maintenance support.
Funding will come from the $18,600 million Iraq Relief and Reconstruction Fund (IRRF) approved in early November by US congress. The contract takes the total number to be awarded under the IRRF to 26 - comprising an overall programme management contract, six sector programme management contracts and 18 design and build reconstruction prime contracts (MEED 5:12:03).
