Bidders are being asked to submit offers in Jeddah rather than Riyadh as originally planned. According to one bidder, the move comes at the request of SEC's senior management that wants to see the technical bids.
At least five bids are expected for the engineering, procurement and construction contract. Bidders are expected to include South Korea's Hanwha Engineering & Construction with the local Arabian Bemco Contracting Company; South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries; Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries; Marubeni Corporation, also of Japan; and China's Sepco 3 Electric Power Construction Corporation.
The plant will have capacity of 2,200-2,640MW (MEED 23:7:08).
