Dell is launching a new PS6000 line of EqualLogic iSCSI SAN arrays, featuring solid state drives and expanded software offerings. Dell says the PS6000 delivers up to 91% faster sequential write workload performance than its current PS5000 products, and is up to 29% faster for sequential read workloads. There are five PS6000 models: PS6000E; PS6500E; PS6000X; PS6000XV; and PS6000S (details here). The PS6000S debuts solid state drives - the array has a separate controller dedicated to the SSDs. They can be combined, Dell says, to scale performance linearly.
