Gas-flaring scheme designed to minimise waste at Abu Dhabi Gas Industries’ plants

Pakistan-based Descon Engineering has begun work on the development of a new gas-flaring system at the Habshan gas field in Abu Dhabi, according to a company active on the project.

Project owner Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (Gasco) awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Descon at the end of 2011 and expects the project to be completed by the first quarter of 2014.

The estimated $100m scheme is designed to minimise gas flaring at Habshan-0, Habshan-1 and Habshan-2 plants’ acid gas-flare headers by recovering and recycling the gas.

Netherlands-based Tebodin Consultants & Engineers is handling the project management consultancy (PMC) work for the scheme.
