The local ALDAR Propertiesis in advanced negotiations with Belgium's Dredging International (DI) for part, believed to be about 25 per cent, of the dredging and reclamation package on the Al-Raha beach development in Abu Dhabi. ALDAR expects to tender the remainder of the package shortly. Four companies were shortlisted for the work in November.
The original package was estimated to be worth $200 million-250 million and covered the dredging of about 40 million cubic metres of material along eight kilometres of the existing channel at Al-Raha and design and construction of revetments. Australia's Esquissehas prepared the masterplan; UK-based Maunsellis the infrastructure design and construction management consultant; and US-based Parsons Brinckerhoffis the project manager (MEED 25:11:05).
