Local contractor will complete the raft foundation

Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has awarded the local HLG Contracting the contract to build the concrete raft foundation for one of Uptown Dubai’s two super tall towers.

Shortlisted from eight bidders, HLG will finish the work by June this year. It will require 12,000 cubic metres of concrete and 1,500 tonnes of reinforcement steel to complete the foundation raft.

DMCC began the construction of its Uptown Dubai district in September last year with piling and shoring work.

In November, it received bids from six contracting groups for the contract to build a mixed-use high rise tower at the development.

Earlier in January, DMCC appointed US-based Rockwell Group as the interior architect for one of the two super tall towers.

The overall Uptown District is made up of seven towers sitting on top of a seven-level podium, will include more than 10 million sq/ft of grade A commercial and residential space, over 200 retail and food and beverage outlets, about 3,000 residences, a central entertainment plaza, and a number of luxury hotels all offering supreme amenities for residents, workers and guests.
