Deals cover construction of pipelines for Gasco and Elixier

UAE-based Dodsal has won construction contracts worth more than $160m to two build gas pipelines in Abu Dhabi, according to senior sources close to the deals.

MEED reported in November that Dodsal was the frontrunner for the two engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deals.

The first contract is for the construction of a 100-kilometer long pipeline linking Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (Gasco) facilities in the northeast and southeast of the country.

The deal covers the replacement of a 36-inch pipeline that carries ethane and methane-rich ‘lean’ gas from Gasco’s Thamma C production facilities in the northeast to the state-owned firm’s Asab field in the south. It is part of the $1bn-plus Asab, Bab, Bu Hasa and Ruwais (ABBR) programme to increase production, processing and distribution capacity at the fields by 140 million cubic feet a day.

Sources close to the deal say that Gasco and Dodsal held an initial meeting about the scheme on 24 December 2009, and that a letter of intent was passed from client to contractor at the same time. The contract is worth $85m.

The second contract is for a 45-kilometer, 48-inch diameter nitrogen pipeline linking UAE/German Adnoc Linde Industrial Gases Company (Elixier) facilities at Mirfa, to the west of Abu Dhabi, with the Habshan oil field to the south of the capital.

The contract was also signed on 24 December, and initial meeting were held at the same time. Dodsal’s price for this deal was $84m.The client, Elixier, is a joint venture of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and Germany’s Linde.
