Doha extends submission deadline for phase 1c of Msheireb scheme

13 February 2012

Contractors now have until 12 March to submit tenders for next phase of urban regeneration project

Local developer Msheireb Properties has extended the submission date by a month for the phase 1c construction contract on its QR20bn ($5.5bn) Msheireb real estate development in Doha.

Contractors now have until 12 March to submit bids for the main construction contract. The previous submission date was 13 February. The phase 1c package will include the construction of residential apartments, office buildings and a school.

The list of prequalified groups for phase 1c is the same as for phase 1b of the project, but will not include the joint venture of UK’s Carillion and the local Qatar Building Company, as it was recently awarded the QR2.37bn contract to build phase 1b of the development.

The prequalified groups include:

  • Aktor (Greece)/Aljaber Engineering (local)
  • Arabtec Construction (UAE)/Arabtec Construction (Qatar)
  • GS Engineering & Construction (South Korea)/Al-Huda Engineering (local)
  • Multiplex (Australia)/Medgulf Construction (local)
  • Six Construct (Belgium)/Midmac Contracting Company (local)
  • Samsung C&T (South Korea)/Redco Construction (local)
  • Strabag (Austria)/HBK Contracting Company (local)
  • Taisei Corporation (Japan)/Redco International (local)

Msheireb Properties recently invited contractors to submit bids for the second phase and prequalify for the third phase on the Msheireb scheme.

The 750,000-sq m Msheireb development is one of the largest real estate schemes in the capital. It will be built behind the Emiri Diwan administrative centre on Doha corniche. The scheme will also include an interchange for Doha’s proposed metro system.

The client for the project is Msheireb Properties. It was previously known as Dohaland and is part of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science & Community Development.
