Doosan wins power contracts in Libya

02 January 2008
South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction has signed a contract with General Electricity Company of Libya to supply four 350MW boilers to the oil-fired thermal power plant in Al Khalij.

The Al Khalij plant will be situated 20km west of Sirte.

Doosan will carry out engineering, production, installation and testing. It plans to complete the power plants by December 2011.

It follows the signing of a contract by Doosan for four 350MW boilers for an oil-fired thermal power plant in Tripoli West, in mid-December. That contract was valued at $260m.

Between them, the two power plants will have a total output of 2,800MW. The contracts are valued at a total of $350m.

To date, most of the boilers Doosan has supplied have been coal-fired.
