Drake & Scull wins contract for Algeria project

Scope of work entails building a mixed-use development in Algiers

Dubai-based Drake & Scull Construction (DSC) has won an AED147m ($40m) contract to build a mixed-use development in Algiers, Algeria.

Under the terms of the contract, DSC, the general contracting arm of Drake & Scull International, will undertake the civil construction portion of the project, which covers a total built up area of approximately 66,500 square metres. The development comprises multi-storey residential units which also contain commercial retail space in the capital city.

Year to date, DSI has won AED1.19bn worth of work in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Europe and India across the engineering, general contracting and waste water sectors.

In March, DSI announced that it had won several new contracts in Kuwait. In the first award, the company won an AED68m contract for Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre in Kuwait City. The contract entails the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of plumbing and fire fighting works.

The company also revealed that it has won a mechanical, electrical and plumbing deal worth AED60m for a healthcare facility in Shuwaikh and two commercial developments in Al-Qebla.
