UAE-based Drake & Scull International (DSI) has been awarded a AED100m ($27m) contract to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services on private residential project in Doha.

The firm’s local subsidiary, Drake & Scull International Qatar, will begin work on the project immediately and the estimated completion date is November 2012.

Drake & Scull’s chief executive officer Khaldoun Tabari expects Qatar’s construction market to continue to grow in the lead up to 2022 World Cup.

“We have reinforced the management team in Qatar and upgraded our operational capabilities to meet the rising demand for the planned 2022 World Cup associated infrastructure, commercial and residential developments,’’ says Tabari.

“We see a progressive increase in tendering activities and we expect to witness an increased impetus in project announcements in the market.”

Drake & Scull Qatar was established in 2006 and has previously worked on the Four Seasons hotel and Qtel headquarters projects.
