Dredgers line up for port work

Evaluation of bids is under way at the Port & Shipping Organisation (PSO) for a major contract to expand the Shahid Rajee port at Bandar Abbas. About five international companies are competing for the award, which is estimated at $150 million-200 million (MEED 23:5:03).

The bidders for the contract are: Royal Boskalis Westminsterof the Netherlands with an unidentified local partner; Belgium's Dredging Internationalwith China Harbour Engineering Company; Jan de Nul, also Belgian, with Turkey's STFA; Van Oord ACZ Overseasof the Netherlands with South Korea's Hyundai Engineering & Construction Company; and Daelim Industrial Company, also of Korea, with Japan's Penta Ocean Construction Company.

The contract involves the dredging of about 11.5 million cubic metres of material for the approach channel and basin, and the construction of about 1,000 metres of quay wall.

The project consultant is the local Darya Sazeh Consulting Company.
