Telecoms service provider establishes online platform for the Arab world
UAE telecoms provider Du is extending its services to the rest of the Mena region via its new mobile and online platform Anayou. Available in Arabic, English and French, the platform offers content, applications and games to any device with an internet connection.
Du chief strategy and investments officer Raghu Venkataraman says: “This platform allows us to expand outside of the UAE to bring digital services to TV, mobile, web, or anything with connectivity.”
The service was officially launched on 10 October in a prototype form. Venkataraman was reluctant to reveal the current number of users. “We have done no marketing for the service, but we hope to reach a minimum of six figures within the next six to nine months.”
The company is opening the service up to partnerships and hopes it will encourage the growth of Arabic content online to meet rising demand. Currently less than two per cent of online content is in Arabic.
Du’s telecoms services are available in the UAE only. Anayou is a product of Du Media Lab, which now operates as a separate company.
The service was created in partnership with several content, media and technology providers including Rotana, MBC and UK-based technology consultancy Accenture.
